In the latest episode of The Shades of Entrepreneurship™ podcast I welcomed Ashley Stanford, Executive Vice President of Client Strategy at TicketSocket as well as the Co-Founder and Vice President at Ice Cream Social. Ice Cream Social is a ticketing widget that streamlines ticket sales and maximizes ticketing revenue for clients in the events and entertainment space.
During our conversation we dive deep into essential topics every entrepreneur should be thinking about.
Whether you’re a seasoned business owner or just starting out, these discussions offer valuable insights that can help guide your journey to success.
Here’s a quick rundown of the key points, but for the full experience, Unlocking Entrepreneurial Success: Quality Content and The Power of Digital Marketing, on The Shades of Entrepreneurship™.
Digital Marketing Mastery
One of the critical conversations we had revolved around the power of digital marketing. In today’s connected world, having a strong online presence is no longer optional—it's essential. We explored the importance of:
Content Creation: Quality content is the backbone of effective digital marketing. Whether it’s blog posts, podcasts, or videos, creating content that resonates with your audience can set you apart from the competition.
In truth, as I began editing my conversation with Ashley, I had to pause, shake-my-head, run to my email and sent off an apology to Ashley and the team over at Kitcaster, a podcast booking agency whom I have had the pleasure of working with for over a year now.
You see folks - I pride myself on quality, and I felt I did not live up to the level of quality that should be excepted of our program.
Somehow my microphone was not properly connected to the mixer; therefore, the quality of sounds from my microphone was trash. I felt compelled to write Ashely and the team at Kitcaster an apology.
Again, quality content is the backbone.
Social Media Strategy: With the right approach, platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter can help you build a loyal customer base. We shared tips on how to engage with your audience and create a community around your brand.
One thing you may notice is I rarely post on TikTok anymore - nothing against the social media channel, but I do think it has something against me. Former post would reach nearly 1,000 views per-post, and then one day that all changed and each one of my posts were getting maybe 50 views.
Unsure what changed in the algorithm - something a social media manager should be monitoring and help a company pivot when changes to the algorithm occur - for me, I just moved off the site.
I am a one-man-band, so if I am not seeing my targeted audience engage with my social media posts on TikTok as often as I am seeing engagement on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, it is time for me to cut my losses and focuses where my target audience is.
Email Campaigns: We also touched on the enduring effectiveness of email marketing. Building a strong email list and keeping your subscribers engaged with regular updates and offers is a strategy no entrepreneur should overlook.
I am neck-deep in marketing segmentation right now. Changing a message to resinate with your target audience is imperative!
It may not be the best strategy to market chewing gum at an orthodontist office or to attendees at a lockjaw convention. Make sure your message not only resinates with your target audience but provides value.
The Art of Networking
Networking is a cornerstone of entrepreneurial success, and we delved into how to build meaningful connections that can drive your business forward. Whether it's connecting with peers in your industry or reaching out to potential mentors, building relationships is key to unlocking opportunities.
Check your local small business association, chamber of commerce or local nonprofits for networking opportunities near you.
Personal Branding and Leadership
We also discussed the importance of personal branding and leadership in entrepreneurship.
Establishing yourself as a thought leader in your industry can help build trust and credibility.
For my own personal brand, I try to lead with authenticity, ensuring that my vision aligns with my business goals.
It is not always easy, and life has a funny way of testing value proportion, but putting quality above all else is a great place to start.
